Duvall Sex Scandal Update

Updating the previous post, here is the statement from Assemblyman Mike Duvall about his resignation (thank you Dr Throttling for pointing it out). This from the “Duvall for Assembly” website:

Assemblyman Duvall Denies Reports that he Had Affair

“I want to make it clear that my decision to resign is in no way an admission that I had an affair or affairs. My offense was engaging in inappropriate story-telling and I regret my language and choice of words. The resulting media coverage was proving to be an unneeded distraction to my colleagues and I resigned in the hope that my decision would allow them to return to the business of the state.”

If you read it closely, there is a disconnect between the title and the contents of the press release. In fact, Duvall is not denying the affair or affairs as is now being widely reported (and as I stated in the earlier post), he is merely stating that his resignation cannot be read as an admission of guilt. This is because he is not resigning for having an affair, but because he got caught talking about the affair.

“Family Man” Politician in “Messy” Sex Scandal

I love a good sex scandal, especially when it reveals the hypocrisy of politicians. This latest affair is a particularly good example. The politician involved is Californian GOP Assemblyman Mike Duvall, a married man with two children who has been praised many times by the Republican Party for his staunch promotion of family values.
